D&K Lookbook (spec ed cover)
“Flat sleeve—the pattern construction to be flat pitched on the small, squarish front part of an apron top. Ribbon anchors the sleeves at back. Precarious. Contemporary fixation on being flat?” —pg 90, D&K Lookbook 2019
D&K is an experimental fashion practice founded in 2012 by designer Ricarda Bigolin and curator Nella Themelios, now also including Chantal Kirby. Through their various publications and events, D&K deconstructs the individual components of what constitutes a fashion brand through recontextualizing fashion texts, packaging, garments and retail ephemera.
D&K Look Book 2019 expands what the traditional collection lookbook can be through a comprehensive and book-ish overview of their performance/installation/project D&K All or Nothing. This work features extensive photographs of garments from the collection, accompanied by lyrical captions for each garment. Texts from contributors such as Femke de Vries, Clemens Thornquist along with founders Ricarda and Nella provide context and reflect on the nature of fashion runways, walks, models and performance. This publication was co-launched with Mode and Mode 7, “D&K LOOKBOOK 2019” by Laura Gardner and Karina Soraya, an anthology of texts and key D&K projects from 2012 to present.
This special edition features a silk organza slipcover, interior branded ribbon and attached silver charm.
