This pop-up market was the launch of Novella.gallery at gift shop in June 2021, in Seattle's International District. It featured a rotating collection of experimental fashion publications and fashion-adjacent items for purchase, curated by Abigail Buzbee. The collection focused on globally sourced works that challenge and critique the fashion industry’s standard modes of making, whether via an alternative form or focus.
Finding a lack of diverse fashion publishing and venues for their sale in the US, we wanted to bring some of these harder to find publications to a broader audience. The aim was to create a global map of critical fashion practice, as well as put our own work of publishing Novella in context. This event also featured the debut of IMAGINED PAGES, a community sourced video fashion magazine, made in collaboration with multi-disciplinary artist Laura Sullivan Cassidy and designer Ryan Hunt.
